February 11th is 211 Day

Thank you United Way for your ongoing support over many years!

We wanted to let you know that February 11th is 211 Day and, for the first time, it is being celebrated in every corner of Canada since 211 services recently expanded nation-wide. Locally, bc211 has been serving our Vancouver Island communities since 2017 and now we get to share this service across the nation.

211 is the front door to government and community-based programs and social services. It’s free, confidential and available in 150+ languages, seven days a week. Learn more: www.211.ca

When someone calls 2-1-1, they reach a 211 Navigator who will connect them to government and community-based programs and social services in their area. It might not be a surprise that, with the country dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic and efforts to flatten the curve, calls to 211 have increased by 30 per cent.

In December 2020, across Central & Northern Vancouver Island, the region’s use of the bc211 website spiked, more than doubling from the previous December. Common searches for December 2020 included housing, counselling, and supports for older adults.
