This program will be of interest to those who have no past experience as counsellors and is an excellent starting point. Students in this program learn about substance abuse issues, recovery models, counselling skills and ways to support those doing recovery work. Students will be required to complete a practicum placement at the end of the program. Also of note ** Personal development work is an essential component of this program. Two years sobriety and minimum grade 12 are prerequisites for this program. Students will participate in talking circles and healing ceremonies to address personal issues which may arise.
