Aboriginal Sexual Abuse Intervention Program

The ASAIP Training Program is a professional development program designed to train individuals to work within Aboriginal health and social services. Training covers areas of counselling, prevention and treatment related to sexual abuse. The program is knowledge-based and experiential in its orientation while offering advanced professional training. There is an expectation of skill development and attainment in counselling, community development and related skills. A focus of the Training Program is to include teachings on Aboriginal historical development, and expose trainees to the teachings of other cultures, giving them opportunities to experience respective ceremonies and traditional healing practices. The ASAIP Board of Governors, consisting of Elders, traditional thinkers and globally recognized experts oversee and assure the continued Aboriginal integrity in all levels of governance.

Community Health Nursing

Community Health Nurses are available daily for drop-in clients at our health centre. Nurses provide support, education and referrals. No appointments are necessary.

Creating Healthy Families Program

Creating Healthy Families is a drop-in parenting program for parents with children aged 0-6 years. The goal of this program is to support families in nurturing the physical, emotional, mental and spiritual health of their children. Families are encouraged to participate in group activities and weekly topics vary.

Diabetes Program

The Diabetes Program at Tillicum Lelum provides services to both people living with diabetes, and their families. We offer information and education about healthy eating and active living as ways to manage and prevent this disease. There is an Elders peer support group, a cooking group and workshops on a variety of topics related to diabetes. Nurses and dieticians are also available to participants.

Into the Circle - HIV/AIDS & STD Support Program

The Into the Circle program at Tillicum provides holistic counselling, prevention information, education, treatment, and support services to both individuals living with HIV/AIDS and the community at large. We also provide:

  • HIV and HEP C testing, counselling and follow-up
  • Sexually Transmitted Disease (STI) Screening/Treatment/Follow-up/Referral
  • Pap Smears
  • Pregnancy Testing and Counselling
  • Emergency Contraception (Plan B)
  • Vaccinations for Hepatitis A and B, Influenza (Flu), Pneumovax (Pneumonia), HIB and Tetanus
  • Needle Exchange – In House and Outreach

Men's Wellness Program

This program is for adult male survivors of sexual abuse, historical trauma, and the impacts of Residential School. We offer a closed support group and individual counselling. Cultural healing traditions are often incorporated. Pre-registration for the group is required.
